Compared to putting some solar PV panels on the warehouse roof, energy efficiency is hard. You need a lot of Subject Matter Experts who truly understand the process or utility system you want to optimise.
It is intrusive. You have to do open heart surgery on your fridge plant to get the savings. It is sometimes hard to see the savings – has capacity, seasonality and product mix been taken into account when we calculate the savings? Are we up or down on savings??
And worst of all, the savings can be temporary….low hanging fruit, unfortunately, tends to grow back.
We all have the story about the super dooper heat recovery project that was done to much fanfare, only for the heat exchanger to foul up within 3 months (never to be cleaned again).
Knowing all this…why would anyone bother?
Well, fortunately there are solutions to all the above problems. Most importantly you can maintain and grow energy savings over the long term. You just need the right tools:
Tools that…. gather all the required data, continuously, automatically.
Tools that…. sort, clean and automate the reporting of that data.
Tools that….. that take into account all the variables – so you know the project is hitting target savings.
Tools that…..allow you quickly and easily show your CFO that you are hitting target savings.
Tools that…..allow you to see new insights to optimise the project further.
And most importantly, tools that….allow you to sustain the savings over years.
Energy efficiency is a great investment if you have the right tools that tick all the above boxes. Why?
It has a great payback – and can deliver a step change in energy consumption (up to 30-40% total energy savings) in your plant.
It typically makes your plant run better, adding capacity and reducing instability. Reducing maintenance interventions.
Equip yourself with the right tools today to drive peak plant performance (and prove your CFO wrong).
