Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: A Masterclass

“If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.” Issac Newton

In my first job as a graduate Engineer I was extremely fortunate to work with some “old” guys.  That’s what they were referred to in the company “the old guys” but, boy if you took the time to listen to them and learn from them their information was golden.  These guys had forgotten more than I ever learned in college, they had real world experience of failures, fuck-ups, successes and miracles.

In the year I spent in the role I learned about boilers and steam, air compressors, instrumentation and pumps.  I learned what they did, how to size them, how to maintain them, what went wrong with them, what they sound and feel like when they were running well and when they weren’t.

There’s not so many old guys around anymore and it’s difficult to hire people with that knowledge.

And this is why Crowley Carbon have developed Masterclasses.

Masterclasses cover equipment such as:

  • Compressed air
  • Vacuum Systems
  • Refrigeration
  • Advanced refrigeration
  • Boilers
  • Steam Boilers
  • Understanding data
  • Biomass
  • CHP optimisation
  • Heat recovery
  • Process improvement

In our Masterclasses you don’t just learn about equipment and maintenance as you would on your OEM supplier training, you get a real, in-depth understanding of the principles of  the equipment.  How it is designed, what it does, variances in technology and maintenance.

You also get insights into Crowley Carbon’s experience of installations and how we saved money on them, how you can save money on your plant, how a data driven approach to operation can help your operation.  Often education and training provides us with lots of information and nowadays you can find Gbs of information on the internet but how much of it is relevant?

In Crowley Carbon Masterclasses we aim not only to provide you with information that you need and will use but also use the extensive experience from our own “old guys” to show you and teach you using real world examples and experience.

“Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience.” Albert Einstein

Most of all though you gain the valuable experience of our experts who provide the training.  Our trainers have vast experience in their fields, they love their area of expertise and want to share their knowledge.  They want to share the nuggets of information that they have learned and their focus is on improving the knowledge of those trained in both operations but most importantly optimisation of their plants.
